“Lauren Thorpe has been riding horses since early childhood. She was introduced to the sport of polo in her early teens and never turned back. When it came time to choose a college, Virginia Intermont College boasted the top equestrian degree in the Untied States. The school year was spent taking classes such as Equine Instruction, Stable Management, Ferrier Science and Equine Anatomy and Physiology, and the summer was spent living in the barns with the horses, working polo games, training horses, and playing polo. After completing her Equine Studies degree, she spent the next several years working as a groom, training polo ponies, managing polo stables and playing semi-professionally. This combination of classical and formal equine education, combined with experience working her way up the polo ladder, gives her a fresh perspective on the sport.
